چکیده

A new computer simulation method based on stochastic integration of the Langevin equations of dislocation motion is proposed for the investigation of the dynamic properties of a system of parallel straight dislocations. The stochastic approach developed for weakly correlated dislocation systems allows for more than 106 dislocations in the simulation area. Relaxation of a system of 220 parallel edge dislocations is presented.

Proposing A stochastic model for spread of corona virus dynamics in Nigeria

The emergence of corona virus (COVID-19) has create a great public concern as the outbreak is still ongoing and government are taking actions such as holiday extension, travel restriction, temporary closure of public work place, borders, schools, quarantine/isolation, social distancing and so on. To mitigate the spread, we proposed and analyzed a stochastic model for the continue spread of coro...

Sorting with Recurrent Comparison Errors

We present a sorting algorithm for the case of recurrent random comparison errors. The algorithm essentially achieves simultaneously good properties of previous algorithms for sorting n distinct elements in this model. In particular, it runs in O(n2) time, the maximum dislocation of the elements in the output is O(logn), while the total dislocation is O(n). These guarantees are the best possibl...

The Effects of Different SDE Calculus on Dynamics of Nano-Aerosols Motion in Two Phase Flow Systems

Langevin equation for a nano-particle suspended in a laminar fluid flow was analytically studied. The Brownian motion generated from molecular bombardment was taken as a Wiener stochastic process and approximated by a Gaussian white noise. Euler-Maruyama method was used to solve the Langevin equation numerically. The accuracy of Brownian simulation was checked by performing a series of simulati...

Large-Scale Gaussian Process Regression via Doubly Stochastic Gradient Descent

Gaussian process regression (GPR) is a popular tool for nonlinear function approximation. Unfortunately, GPR can be difficult to use in practice due to the O(n) memory and O(n) processing requirements for n training data points. We propose a novel approach to scaling up GPR to handle large datasets using the recent concept of doubly stochastic functional gradients. Our approach relies on the fa...

A parallel algorithm for 3D dislocation dynamics

Dislocation dynamics (DD), a discrete dynamic simulation method in which dislocations are the fundamental entities, is a powerful tool for investigation of plasticity, deformation and fracture of materials at the micron length scale. However, severe computational difficulties arising from complex, long-range interactions between these curvilinear line defects limit the application of DD in the ...
